The Haunui Wool Artisan Collection 2025

Going back to the beginning, Haunui originated from a passion for sheep, wool and Handcraft.
My mother, Fiona, started breeding sheep back in the 1980’s, with a few coloured sheep of different breeds. She then combined these, aiming for sheep with handcraft characteristics in a range of natural colours that she herself enjoyed. Long, vibrant and easy spinning fibre with a beautiful handle and loft- no matter the micron!

Naturally, fibre arts and handcraft is the ethos behind Haunui Wool. We love seeing what fibre lovers create with our wool. We also feel very privileged to be a fibre base that artists choose to use. We always think of our group of artists, from breeding the sheep through to creating new Haunui blends for them to play with.

The worldwide fibre community is truly wonderful. Brought together by the love for our Haunui sheep and their wool. It created an idea within me, why not create a collaboration of talented artists with a common passion for Haunui?
I spoke to a few of my fibre art friends and they also loved the concept. So, here we are!

Everyone has put so much effort into making this exclusive collection come to fruition. It really feels in the spirit of our fibre community, and I thank them for all their efforts and help. We truly feel very lucky to work with such a talented group of people from around the world.

I allocated each artist a different base to work on, that was also something they would typically use from us. There was no brief or theme, I wanted each artist to express themselves in how the base inspired them… some even kept their colourway a secret from me!

And so, to the exciting bit, the artists!
